CPA Student Takes 3rd in Robotics Finals

We’re so excited to celebrate an incredible accomplishment by one of Colorado Prep Academy’s very own! Team Maverick earned 3rd Place in the 4–6th grade division of the 2025 K12 Robotics League national finals—and we couldn’t be prouder!

A High-Tech Adventure

After months of coding, troubleshooting, and pushing their virtual robots to the limit, top teams from around the country came together on June 3, 2025, for the final showdown at K12 Headquarters in Reston, Virginia.

For the grand finale, the competition shifted from coding simulations to real-world robotics, using EV3 robots and physical mats. Nine finalist teams—three from each grade band (4–6, 7–9, and 10–12)—competed in three action-packed rounds of practice, precision, and performance. 

How Team Maverick Shined

In the 4–6th grade division, Team Maverick powered through the competition with an impressive best score of 40 and a lightning-fast run time of 19.97 seconds. 

The team included:

• Owen, 6th grade, Colorado Prep Academy
• Macy, 5th grade, King Elementary

Together, they proved that when talent, teamwork, and determination come together, anything is possible.

Big Effort, Big Recognition

Only one team in each grade band could take home the top trophy—but every finalist earned national recognition. As a 3rd Place winner, Team Maverick received official K12 Robotics League certificates and serious bragging rights for their incredible performance.

A Celebration of Talent

From his first lines of code to the final round of real-world competition, Owen showed what STEM passion looks like in action. We’re incredibly proud of how he and his teammate rose to the challenge—and we can’t wait to see where their STEM journey takes them next!
